Philipp N. Sander

Chemical Biologist & Investor

I currently am an Investment Analyst with SOSV's IndieBio - an earliest-stage startup development program looking to solve to big problems in human and planetary health. We are a VC.

Previously, I received my PhD working in the Lairson Group of the Department of Chemistry at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. I worked on enabling cell-based phenotypic DNA-encoded chemical library screening, but am also am interested in kinase-mediated signaling "beyond the phosphate", pooled gene perturbation screening and sequencing, and new  bio-oriented chemistry.

I received my BSc. in Molecular Biomedicine from the University of Bonn, and my MSc. in Biochemistry & Biophysics from the University of Freiburg, both in Germany. In my current work, I leverage my understanding of human biology and an appreciation for quantitative bioscience from first principles to develop new chemical and biological tools to understand biological phenomena and advance human health.
